It was just happenstance that Marvin was the unfortunate moose to be offered as a delectable treat to blue eyed Brady. The seven year old cougar knew something was up when Marvin unknowingly “wandered” into the big cat run. It didn’t take long for a tawny figure to be seen stalking his prey. Then with a pounce reserved for only the feline family Marvin went down in a scene fit for a suspenseful predator chase on the Animal Planet!
“It was surreal…”
Ok, ok… so it didn’t go exactly like that but the recent Wildlife & Wine Tour was pretty amazing. This sustainable ecotourism event is in partnership with SoOregon Express. The opportunity was one Katy and her girlfriends quickly signed up for!
I found out about the Wildlife and Wine tour on Facebook and decided it sounded like a great girls’ day and instantly bought tickets. This tour was unbelievably wonderful, and I cannot recommend it enough! SoOregon Express was an amazing host and very professional with expedited service. Once we got to Wildlife Images the fun began with a tour of the grounds and learning about the wildlife in care. Then we were taken to a private area that was set up with everything we needed to make enrichment activities and toys. We had so much fun creating our “masterpieces” and the Jesse from SoOregon Express did a perfect job at providing help and direction. The the main event was building Marvin the moose, we filled him with chicken and steak then delivered it to a Cougar. He did not waste any time taking it down as we all watched the action and took photos. Kim, from Wildlife Images, did an exceptional job of keeping our group informed about each of the species, their background and safety first for the animals and us. It was surreal to hear her tell the stories of these animals and how they came to be rescued. We are so thankful for the sanctuary that Wildlife Images provides them. We learned they do public animal releases for the ones that can be treated and returned to the wild. A picnic lunch with a great assortment of healthy food was included. The last stop was at Del Rio for wine & relaxation. The views of the vineyard were a wonderful way to end the tour. If you want a day of big laughs and awes you should join one of these tours!

There is an upcoming Wildlife & Wine Tour where you can make your own Marvin the Moose or other masterpiece for the animals at Wildlife Images. The next tour is October 20th and it is Halloween themed! During this incredible tour you’ll meet up with Wildlife Images Animal Care Team to help construct enrichment for the Animal Ambassadors. These enrichment items allow the animals to utilize their natural instincts and skills. All the enrichment is made from recycled and repurposed supplies meaning you’re not just supporting wildlife but you’re also helping the environment. Once your items are created you’ll be able to deliver them to the Animal Ambassadors and watch as they enjoy your creations! Your day will end at Del Rio where you can unwind with a glass of wine in their beautiful garden.
This partnership is an incredible way to support our environment, Animal Ambassadors, Wildlife Images’ important work, and, of course, have fun!
This event was a lot of fun! It was really cool to see the animals using their natural behaviors to
engage and play with items that would otherwise have made their way to the landfill.
I am really excited to be a part of such a neat partnership that allows the public to
truly make a positive impact on both the planet and the well being
of the animals that call Wildlife Images home.
