Quirky Crow Patient Released

This 7 ounce, tiny terror tried to back down a horse. A month and half later he returned to the wild just as bravely! You may remember we highlighted this little guy when he claimed number 400 on our patient rolls. We are now at 800+ patients for the year!

This little guy came in after he spooked a horse. Yep… all 7 ounces of him spooked a horse! The finder watched and waited for two days until it was clear his parents were not coming back. When he arrived in late May, he was dehydrated and had parasites. Two problems we quickly solved… along with a big meal.  As a member of the Corvid Family this guy is wicked smart. He could easily imprint on humans so wearing a mask, hood or other disguise is necessary when we treated him. With his initial problems solved we simply waited until he was big enough to fend for himself in the wild before releasing him.
We picked the perfect spot with lots of trees for his release. When we opened the door to his kennel he hopped to the front, looked around and off he went, as brave as ever. He landed in a nearby tree and moved from branch to branch to find just the right view of his new home.

Check out his release video!
