Osprey are one of the more challenging species that Wildlife Images accepts into rehabilitation. Their best chance at survival is to get them back into the wild quickly and sometimes that means we can’t be sure the bird is completely ready. During a recent renesting attempt a young osprey surprised us in more ways than one!
These birds are known for living near waterways and are excellent at catching fish. Their diet consists of 99% fish. To catch them they dive into shallow water. Many people will recognize them by their large nests that often sit on top of dead trees, telephone poles, or even stadium lights. While they are truly majestic in the wild, they are quite the opposite when in a rehab setting.
