Walk on the Wild Side – Meet Two Red-Tailed Hawk Patients

In this episode of Walk on the Wild Side, Dave explains how to spot the differences between an adult and a sub-adult red-tailed hawk. The adult has dark colored eyes and the tail feathers are a rusty red color. In a sub-adult red-tailed hawk the eyes are yellow and the tail feathers have a brown coloration. Both of these birds came in with failure to thrive but could be eligible for release by March. You can see the difference in the eyes very clearly in the picture below.
