Orphaned as an egg in a brush fire and hatched in his rescuer’s home, Niles was cared for at a local rehab center, but became too imprinted on humans to be released. He can be distinguished from Daphne by his distinct “widow’s peak.” In the summer he can be seen doing his courting dance where he flaps his wings and jumps up and down, then picks up sticks and leaves to offer either Daphne or animal care staff and volunteers.
